Open Call to Illustrators, Animators, Graphic Novelists and Filmmakers

New York based singer-songwriter Dan Asselin (Ghost Boy of the San Joaquin) is creating a visual world to accompany existing and future music. That means comic/graphic novel, animation, music videos/short films, single-piece and series responses to lyrical content, and any other media form designed for the eye.

Independent Hoodie Comic Strip

Call to comic artists. Email a rough sketch of your reaction/response to the lyrics and feel of the song "Independent Hoodie" to dasselin86@gmail.com. It can be as few as or as many panels as you'd like. It can be a literal representation or an abstract one, or somewhere in between.

Every image I receive I will post in the next blog, and the final version of the chosen comic will be used as the poster, flyer and general image for promotional use for the next D.A (Ghost Boy of the San Joaquin) performance.

Thanks and looking forward to your responses.

Lyrics:
a thousand dead leaves scraping up the street
I'm in my independent hoodie
skateboard in hand
pebbles of asphalt imbedded in my knee
mamma don't pick me
up, I've changed my mind

let that north wind blow
it don't chill me
I'm in my independent hoodie
skateboard underfoot
1 more 5 - 0* then I'll hitchhike back to springs*
If mamma comes asking which way I went
You tell her up

into the grey sky undefined
where no one knows
up above the cloud-line kick-flipping
how could Monday ever
find me hiding there?

Sky is all torn up
Grey on gray
I’m in my independent hoodie

Footnotes:
*5-0 is a type of skateboarding grind
*Springs is a neighborhood in East Hampton, NY
